Boy do I love snow! Being from central NY I’ve seen lots of it. Here in Pittsburgh we just get brief encounters with the stuff. Today Bev and I went to Jerome Bettis’ restaurant “Grill 36″ on the north shore adjacent to Heinz Field. We had a river-side table with an awesome view of the point and the golden triangle. The scene was quiet and surreal ( and the steak was pretty good too!) watching the snow fall and cover the area in a soft white blanket. It was a time to enjoy the freshness that winter can bring.
Sunday is supposed to bring 56 degrees, rain and slush. Think I’ll enjoy the white stuff while I can.

Just back from Jacksonville
23 02 2008So sorry it’s been so long since my last blog, seems like Christmas was yesterday, and everywhere I go the St. Patty’s Day stuff is up everywhere. Good thing we got the tree down!
Bev and I spent at week at the Omni in Jacksonville, Fla for three days courtesy of the Rawlings Foundation. Dr. John flew in all the BBFI National Directors along with some other pastors and missionaries for a time of sharing and challenge. Could not believe a man almost twice my age (he’s 94) has the energy, stamina and vision he has. It was great to see old friends and make new ones.
After a week of total Omni pampering, unreal food, king-sized bed, and incredible views of the Jacksonville waterfront, the foundation thing being concluded we checked into the real world at a Best Western
. Oh well. BUT we had two days off TOGETHER ALONE! We drove to Savannah to fulfill Beverly’s ultimate food channel fantasy. That’s right we ate at The Lady and Sons Restaurant. Can you say Paula Dean? (sp?) We dined on the third floor at a tall table next to the bar (great place for a preacher, was waiting for another preacher to walk in so we could both hide) The food was absolutely the best I’ve ever eated! So good and rich (lots of butter) we both got sick! But boy did we enjoy it.
Next day we went to St. Augustines and enjoyed dinner with some friends. Sunday we went to church, and then the moment of truth came. Bev had to leave to return home (I had 2 more days of meetings). I know this may sound corny, but we went to the airport, and I stood and watched her go through security and waved good-bye till we lost sight of each other. It was a pretty emotional moment, but after almost 30 years together (and a great week in Fla) we realized how much in love we are, and how much we still want to be together.
Tuesday I left JAX it was 75 and sunny, landed in Pittsburgh, it was 17 degrees, but Bev was there, and I was home, thanks Lord, You are so good!
